WHAT IS THREADING?
Threading is a hair removal technique that has been used since ancient times. Thin twisted, pure cotton thread is rolled over messy hairlines, eyebrows, mustaches and so forth. The hair is removed at the follicle level.
HOW DOES THREADING WORK?
Threading is the gentlest type of hair removal by far. It is a very simple process that involves twisting and pulling a piece of cotton thread along areas where there are unwanted hairs. The thread acts like a miniature lasso, by directly lifting the hair follicles from the roots without any unnecessary tugging or using chemicals on delicate skin. Threading is something we believe so strongly that it’s the only facial hair removal method that we offer.
HOW LONG DOES EYEBROW THREADING TAKE?
The whole process is really fast and the times vary from 5-8 minutes depending on the amount of hair you might have..
IS THREADING PAINFUL?
It might sound painful, however threading is similar to tweezing when it comes to pain. The most unique aspect to the threading process is how the thread feels moving across your skin.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF THREADING?
Threading has emerged as the best and natural alternative to plucking and waxing to eliminate facial hair. Compared to other methods like waking, threading has some of the following distinct advantages:
– Relatively painless and inexpensive (doesn’t irritate your skin)
– Long lasting effects (removes hair at the follicle level)
– Since no chemicals are used there are no adverse side effects
– Less time is needed to finish the job
– After work skin looks younger, clean and soft (no rough patches)
– More precise to give the desired arch and shape to your eyebrows
– Less Irritation and Redness
– Ability to pull out specific individual tiny hairkins
– Ingrown hairs are not produced
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED THREADING AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Since the threading process removes each hair at the root, it will last just as long as waxing does. Re-growth of course will depend on how quickly your hair grows. Generally speaking, on average our threading clients come in every 2 to 5 weeks. The biggest advantage that threading offer is that this method can even target short hairs (or stubble) and “peach-fuzz” that wax can’t get. Therefore, if you want to really clean up or have a special event coming up, threading allows you to do just that!
IS THREADING SANITARY?
Yes it is. The mouth is used by a threading artist to hold the thread very taut. This ensures better accuracy. However, that part of the thread doesn’t ever come into contact with your skin.
I OVER TWEEZED BY MISTAKE. HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT TO GET MY EYEBROWS THREADED?
We recommend that you wait for 3 to 4 weeks after your plucking to visit us. However, please visit us sooner if you find yourself grabbing your tweezers. What is so great about threading is that you can even have shorter hairs removed at the same time that our Specialist starts to thread your shape. If you did remove too many hairs, keep in mind that not every stubbly hair is bad. Just be patient and allow those shorter hairs to grow into their full potential before deciding which ones to get rid of and which ones to keep.
WILL MY HAIR GROW DARKER IF I THREAD MY ENTIRE FACE?
No, it is note. Since your hair is removed from the root by the threading process, your hair grows back less or the same over time, while the hair follicles continue to weaken.
MY SKIN IS VERY SENSITIVE, WILL THREADING MAKE MY SKIN RED?
Everyone has their own skin sensitivity level. If your skin is very sensitive, then after threading you probably will experience some redness. However, it normally will subside within one hour. This is in contrast to waxing which may take days (given that it literally removes the upper layers of your delicate skin). After treatment you might want to use ice or apply hydrocortisone cream to help with reducing any redness. After all of our threading treatments we ask if you want us to apply Cooling Gel. This reduces irritation naturally and tightens the pores.
CAN I GET THREADING DONE AFTER HAVING A FACIAL?
In order to avoid having a reaction, we generally recommend you have threading done 24 hours before a facial treatment or after it. If you have to have the threading done on the same day, then we recommend that you have the threading following your facial treatment. However, you should wait a minimum of 24 hours whenever possible when you have very sensitive skin.
FACIAL TREATMENT vs. FACIAL THREADING. IS IT THE SAME THING?
Don’t confuse Facial Threading with Facial Treatment. Facial threading is our hair removal service name that covers all parts of your face, including forehead, sideburns, chin, kips and eyebrows. With a Facial Treatment, products are used to clean, exfoliate and nourish your skin. However,no hairs are removed from your face during the process.
I NEED TO LOOK MY BEST FOR A SPECIAL EVEN, WHEN SHOULD I COME IN FOR MY THREADING SERVICES?
We recommend that you have your threading done 2 to 3 days prior to your special event. However, don’t worry. Any redness will usually subside within one hour and wearing makeup is safe after threading. Therefore, it is even okay to have threading done on the same day for any last-minute beauty visits! We only take walk-ins, and the wait will depend on our customers. It is usually busier on the weekends.
IS THREADING SAFE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RECENTLY HAD COSMETIC SURGERY?
Given that everyone’s skin is different, what we recommend is that you first check with your physician. However, in general, threading is safe to have 3 to 4 weeks following cosmetic surgery. Typically this is when your skin will have had enough time to heal and be less sensitive.
